How to Apply for the 2025/2026 School Year

So, how can you apply? It’s easier than you think!

  1. Visit the Website:
For detailed information on tuition, programs, and the curriculum, head over to our website. We’ve made it easy to find everything you need, and there’s even an option to fill out your application directly online.

  2. Make Initial Contact:
Start by reaching out to us through our website or by phone. If you’re not sure where to begin, you can call our Admissions Coordinator, Kim Baack, who is here to help guide you through the entire process. Kim will provide all the necessary information and send the next steps to ensure your application is completed smoothly.

  3. Schedule a Tour:
The first step for many families is coming in for a tour of the school. During your visit, you’ll have the opportunity to see our classrooms, meet our teachers, and ask any questions you may have about our programs.

What Can Families Expect During a Tour?

We know that choosing the right school for your child is a big decision, and we want you to feel comfortable and informed. During your private tour, you’ll get a behind-the-scenes look at how our school functions. Here’s what you can expect during your visit:

  • Classroom Experience:
We want you to experience the flow of a Montessori day, so we time our tours during the “work cycle,” when the children are actively engaged in learning. This gives you the best picture of how our classrooms operate. You’ll see how children use materials, collaborate with others, and work at their own pace.

  • Meet Our Teachers:
Our teachers are an integral part of the Montessori experience, and we want you to meet them! On your tour, you’ll have the chance to ask questions about our curriculum and teaching philosophy. You may even meet the teacher who will be working with your child, depending on their age and class placement.

  • Overview of School Operations:
Kim will walk you through everything from arrival and dismissal procedures to breaks, fees, and how we foster a sense of community within the school.

  • A Focus on One Family at a Time:
Our tours are private, allowing you to ask questions and absorb all the information you need without distractions. We typically schedule tours at 9:00 AM and 10:30 AM, during which children are deeply engaged in their work cycle. This is the best time to observe our Montessori method in action.

What is Montessori Education?

You may already have a general idea of what Montessori is, but we’d love to share a bit more about what makes our approach unique.

At its core, Montessori education emphasizes independence, freedom of choice, and self-directed learning. Unlike traditional classrooms, where children might follow a fixed curriculum at a set pace, Montessori allows children to choose their own activities and work at their own pace. This encourages a deep sense of ownership over their learning, helping them develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

  • Freedom of Movement: Children are encouraged to choose where they want to work—whether it’s at a table, on the floor, or even outdoors.

  • Multi-Age Classrooms: Our classrooms are intentionally mixed-age, allowing younger children to learn from older ones, and older children to develop leadership and mentoring skills. This creates a dynamic, community-oriented environment.

  • Learning at Your Own Pace: Children work through the curriculum at their own pace, revisiting materials as needed and mastering concepts before moving on. This helps build confidence and a love for learning.

How Do We Determine the Right Program for Your Child?

We understand that every child is unique, and we’re here to help you determine the best program for their age and developmental needs. When considering enrollment, you’ll need to think about:

  1. Age: Montessori Children’s House offers programs for children starting as young as 18 months up through age 9. Placement is based on your child’s birthdate and their developmental stage.

  2. Program Type:
Families can choose between half-day or full-day programs. We also offer specialized options like our Spanish immersion program or English-language classrooms.

  3. Previous Experience:
For our Lower Elementary program, we require prior Montessori experience. This helps ensure that your child will thrive in the classroom environment, as they’re already familiar with the structure and philosophy of Montessori.
